Can every browser output AVIF?

Can every browser open and decode an AVIF file?

Yes. AVIF decoding is supported in all major modern browsers — Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, and Safari 16+. If your AVIF file won't preview, try updating your browser.

How much smaller are AVIF files compared to JPEG?

Typically 40–60% smaller at equivalent visual quality, depending on the image. Photographic images and smooth gradients see the biggest gains.
